2024 Academic Award Guidelines

One high school senior will be selected from the school’s Academic curriculum as the recipient of a $5,000 award. Criteria to be met:

  • Financial need should be taken into consideration
  • Accepted and enrolled in a college program
  • Strong academic performance
  • Demonstrated school leadership
  • Demonstrated community involvement
  • Submit a 300 word essay stating why you plan on furthering your education, what benefits you hope to gain from doing so, and what you hope to do when your schooling is complete.

2024 Agricultural Award Guidelines

One high school senior will be selected from the school’s Agricultural curriculum as the recipient of a $2,500 award. Criteria to be met:

  • Financial need should be taken into consideration
  • Accepted and enrolled in a college program
  • Strong academic performance
  • Demonstrated commitment to setting and achieving personal goals
  • Demonstrated good character through involvement in community and extracurricular activities
  • Submit a 300 word essay stating why you plan on furthering your education, what benefits you hope to gain from doing so, and what you hope to do when your schooling is complete.

2024 Vocational Award Guidelines

One high school senior will be selected from the school’s Vocational curriculum as the recipient of a $2,500 award. Criteria to be met:

  • Financial need should be taken into consideration
  • Accepted and enrolled in a college program
  • Strong academic performance
  • Demonstrated commitment to setting and achieving personal goals
  • Demonstrated good character through involvement in community and extracurricular activities
  • Submit a 300 word essay stating why you plan on furthering your education, what benefits you hope to gain from doing so, and what you hope to do when your schooling is complete.

Applying for a Scholarship

These scholarships are all one-time awards. Selections will be made by the high school staff according to existing procedures. The students selected must physically attend the high school on a full-time basis.

For all three awards, school personnel will complete the selection process and return the Notification Form, Application, two letters of recommendation, student photo (electronic or hard copy) and Parental Release & Consent form by Friday, April 5, 2024 to Lisa Sedlmeier, Rockville Bank Community Foundation, P.O. Box 2376, 45 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon CT  06066.

The Notification Form must include the student’s name and address, a summary of reasons for his/her selection, name of secondary schooling institution, and the name of the teacher/advisor who will speak at our scholarship reception on behalf of the student. The 2024 reception date/location are to be determined.  The Foundation will reach out with details.

The school photos provided will be used by the Foundation in recognizing all scholarship recipients in local newspapers.

The Foundation will invite all recipients’ parents/guardians, school guidance counselor, school principal to a presentation reception.

A representative from each school will make a short presentation acknowledging each student’s accomplishments and reasons for being selected.
